Beirut, Lebanon, May 22nd 2012 – The dynamic all-new next-generation Ford Focus comes to market with its exciting three-model line-up of sporty 5-door hatchback, sleek 4-door sedan and stylish 5-door wagon.

With over 10 million examples sold since its launch in 1998, the Ford Focus has become a firm favourite with consumers worldwide for its outstanding value, comfort and safety, and above all, for being great fun to drive. Following an unprecedented global development program, the next-generation Ford Focus is set to continue the successful tradition of its predecessors.

Distinguished by its sleek and sporty design, the new Focus is packed with more affordable technologies and features than ever before in this segment. The next-generation Focus also offers customers the highest standards of quality and detailed craftsmanship, outstanding fuel economy, and takes the legendary Focus driving dynamics to a new level.

“The new Focus is evidence of One Ford in action, and truly represents the best of Ford Motor Company,” said Stephen T. Odell, Chairman and CEO, Ford of Europe. “Our investment in a new global C-car platform is enabling us to provide consumers around the world, with an affordable range of cars which offer quality, fuel efficiency, safety and smart technology beyond their expectations.

"With its desirable combination of dynamic design, outstanding driver appeal, unmatched levels of technology and impressive fuel economy, we believe that the new Focus will not only delight our existing customers but also expand the appeal of the Focus brand to a whole new generation of Ford customers," he added.

Developed in Europe, For Sale Worldwide
Developed in Europe, for sale in over 120 markets worldwide with 80 per cent parts commonality, the next-generation Focus is the hero model created from Ford Motor Company's new global C segment platform. This platform will underpin at least ten vehicles around the world and account for two million units of annual production by 2012. For the Middle East markets, Ford Focus will be built at the Ford assembly plant in Saarlouis (Germany).

Striking, Streamlined Design
All three Focus body styles share a sporty and dynamic character, marking the next evolution of Ford’s acclaimed kinetic design form language, which has contributed to the growing popularity of the company’s latest small and medium global cars.

With its striking front end, sleek profile, dramatic rising beltline and athletic stance, the new Focus clearly signals the rewarding driving experience that awaits customers when they take to the road.

At 1,484mm high, 4,358mm long and 1,823mm wide (without mirrors), the new 5-Door model is 16mm lower, 21mm longer and 16mm narrower than the current European Focus. Its wheelbase is 8mm longer at 2,648mm.

Ford and Lincoln sales in the Middle East closed 2011 with an unprecedented 50 percent growth, at a time when the region's industry performance was relatively flat, thanks to the continued flow of segment-leading and award winning products including the all-new Ford Focus and Explorer, as well as the Figo, Fiesta, Fusion, Taurus, Mustang, and Edge crossover, that join the Lincoln MKS, MKX and the full-size crossover, MKT.

Stylish, Functional Interior
The dynamic quality of the exterior is reinforced by the distinctive design of the interior. The new Focus has a modern, cockpit-style interior, with the stylish centre console wrapped around the driver and providing outstanding access to the vehicle’s major controls.

Ford’s latest generation Human Machine Interface (HMI) system is used within the cockpit, with twin five-way toggle switches on the steering wheel controlling the two main vehicle displays located in the instrument cluster and high in the centre of the instrument panel.

The interior combines outstanding functionality with outstanding craftsmanship. The cabin’s bold and contemporary graphics, the sculptured shape of the soft-touch instrument panel and the choice of superior trim materials all help to give occupants the feeling that they are travelling in a premium-class car.

Smart Technology for Safety and Practicality
The global scale of Ford’s C car programme makes more technologies and features economically viable than ever before for cars in this segment. This unprecedented technology investment is aimed at ensuring the new Focus achieves clear leadership in the C segment by offering customers an exciting array of advanced features generally found only in larger, more expensive vehicles.

One of the key innovations in the all-new Focus feature the available Active Park Assist.

Passive safety features include an exceptionally strong and light steel bodyshell, with more high-strength steels than any previous Ford, and a new generation of advanced airbag restraint systems.

Despite the improved safety performance and significantly higher equipment levels on the new Focus, it has not increased in weight compared to the outgoing model.

Unmatched Driving Quality
When it was introduced in 1998, the original Ford Focus brought new levels of agility and responsiveness to the C segment. The next-generation Focus plans to raise the benchmark once more, targeting class-leading driving quality that blends outstanding steering precision and road feedback with significantly improved refinement and ride control.

The new Focus features an advanced Torque Vectoring Control system fitted as standard, which enhances cornering stability and agility. This technology has, up to now, typically only been available on premium sports vehicles.

Ford engineers have also retuned and enhanced the innovative suspension concepts from prior models, developing optimised new designs for the ‘Control Blade’ multilink rear suspension and the semi-isolated front subframe. The chassis design now incorporates a completely new Electric Power Assist Steering system.

Spirited Performance with Outstanding Economy
The new Ford Focus' powertrain range delivers spirited performance and offers outstanding fuel economy and CO2 emissions. The new model is available with the 1.6L Duratec Ti-VCT and the 2.0L Duratec Ti-VCT engines, paired with 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions.

Advanced six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission
Focus fuel economy is enhanced by the availability of a new six-speed dual dry-clutch PowerShift automatic transmission. This advanced gearbox provides the responsive performance of a traditional manual transmission with the convenience of a user-friendly automatic. Low-friction dry clutches are employed, combined with six well-spaced gears to provide drivers with responsive acceleration from rest, smooth transitions between gears and optimized fuel economy when cruising.

Ford Focus – a History of Success
With well over 10 million examples sold since its initial launch in 1998, the Ford Focus brand has been a tremendous success in a huge number of markets around the world. Previous generations have been produced in Germany, Spain, USA, Mexico, China, Taiwan, Russia, Philippines, Vietnam and South Africa.

The launch of the next-generation vehicle marks the start of an exciting new chapter in the Focus success story, with a single model being designed and engineered on a global platform for sale in over 120 markets worldwide.
